Exciting Events on the Halifax Waterfront

From Jazz Fest to the Buskers to Canada Day celebrations, there are lots of great events going on in downtown Halifax. And with many of these events happening in and around Bishop’s Landing, you can enjoy the shopping, dining, and entertainment—all in one beautiful spot on the Halifax waterfront.

June 4&5: Doors Open Halifax

10:00 am – 4:00 pm, free

Doors Open Halifax returns for another year of this popular event. Buildings of historical, architectural, or contemporary interest will welcome the public for free access to discover parts of Halifax they have yet to experience. 2016 venues around Bishop’s Landing include the Cable Wharf and Theodore Tugboat, Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, CSS Acadia and Boat Shop (Maritime Museum of the Atlantic), and more. Learn more »

June 24 – 26: Shoot 4 The Cure

schedule TBA, registration required for participation, free for spectators

This brand-new event will take place in the Salter St. parking lot next to Bishop’s Landing. Teams will compete in both basketball and ball hockey to raise money and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on the beautiful Halifax Waterfront. Pre-registration required to play. Learn more »

June 30 – July 3: Halifax Ribfest

Halifax Ribfest is back in an even bigger way for 2016! The festival has expanded to four days over the Canada Day long weekend. July 4-6: Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Festival

For the first time ever, the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Festival is bringing the international excitement of the Tattoo to the Halifax waterfront! Enjoy free noon-hour performances by incredible performers from Canada, Germany, New Zealand, Switzerland, Kenya, and more. Learn more »

July 10: Route Halifax Saint Pierre Race 2016

July 13 – 17: TD Halifax Jazz Festival

Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the oldest jazz festival and largest summer festival in Atlantic Canada. Each year, the TD Halifax Jazz Festival attracts over 50,000 visitors, and employs over 350 local musicians. Come enjoy the main stage on the Halifax waterfront near Bishop’s Landing, and at other venues around the city. Learn more » 

July 27 – August 1: Halifax International Busker Festival

The Halifax International Busker Festival has the distinction of being the oldest and biggest of its kind in Canada. Each year, over 100,000 visitors flock to the Halifax waterfront to see spectacular shows featuring performers from all over the globe. Learn more » 

July 29 – August 1: Natal Day

This year’s Natal Day celebration coincides with the International Busker Festival, so it promises to be that much more spectacular and exciting. There will be more than 30 events held on the waterfront and at other sites around the city, including live music, parades, family activities, fireworks, and more. Learn more »
